[Watch] Taskin Ahmed bowls a jaffa to get Rohit Sharma out in single digits again in 1st IND vs BAN 2024 Test

Rohit Sharma got out for a below-10 score -- 5 (7) -- again in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai to an excellent, almost unplayable ball from pacer Taskin Ahmed. The pacer bowled in the channel, angling it in and moving it away off an angled seam to open up the right-hander and take the outside edge to third slip.

In the first innings, it was youngster Hasan Mahmud, who got the Indian captain out for six in an almost identical fashion. That time, the ball was slightly fuller on the same line and carried off the outside edge to the second slip.

Watch the wicket here:

For the second time, Rohit was the first wicket to fall in India's innings. He looked much more comfortable at the start of this innings against Mahmud, even hitting a nice boundary against him to get off the mark.

India won't be too worried about him, considering the quality of balls he came across. But the opener would want to get going in the second Test against the Bangladeshi pacers as preparation for the upcoming rubbers against New Zealand and Australia, which would present him with tougher challenges.

Jaiswal falls after Rohit but India in control

Soon after the skipper's wicket, Nahid Rana came into the attack to nick off Yashasvi Jaiswal too. The left-hander, too, got out caught behind in quite similar fashion to the first innings, leaving India reeling at 28/2.

However, despite the quick wickets, the hosts remained in control of the Test, thanks to the second-innings madness. With 376 on the board, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 149, conceding a 167-run lead.

Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep supported him with two each. Most contributions for Bangladesh came from the lower order, with Shakib al Hasan scoring the highest with 32 (64).
