KL Rahul has used social media to give followers glimpses of his training routines since undergoing successful thigh surgery in May. The keeper-batter injured his thigh in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) during a league match between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The LSG skipper was ruled out of the remainder of the season following the encounter. He was also replaced by Ishan Kishan in India's squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2023) final against Australia because of the same.
KL Rahul unlikely to be fit in time for Asia Cup 2023
Team India could be without KL Rahul for the upcoming 2023 edition of the Asia Cup 2023. The batter is unlikely to regain full fitness ahead of the 50-over continental showpiece event.
According to Cricbuzz, Rahul won't feature in the Asia Cup 2023. The tournament is scheduled to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as part of a hybrid model.
The continental tournament will commence on August 31. Four matches will be played in Pakistan, while Sri Lanka will host the remaining fixtures of Asia Cup 2023.
The team management would want Rahul to return to action soon as they look to identify their ideal playing XI on the road to the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup.
The marquee event will be played in India from October 5. The Men in Blue will open their campaign with a clash against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.
