2024 T20 World Cup champions, Team India received a rousing welcome on arrival at Mumbai airport. The team touched down in India in the early hours of Thursday, July 4. Rohit Sharma’s team then met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Team India then travelled to Mumbai in a special Vistara flight 'UK1845', which paid tribute to Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma's jersey numbers. The large crowd assembled at the airport went crazy as the players walked out. Meanwhile, India vice-captain Hardik Pandya stole the limelight as he came out with the trophy.

Subsequently, Team India went on a victory parade from the National Center of Performing Arts at Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Even though the victory procession was delayed for about two hours and there was rain, Marine Drive remained packed with fans.

On July 3, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had posted on X, asking fans to join them for the celebration.

"🇮🇳, we want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home ❤️🏆."

The victory parade will be followed by a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium.


Team Indian flight receives a water cannon salute at Mumbai airport

Team India's special Vistara flight from Delhi to Mumbai was greeted at the airport with a water cannon salute. This movement gave a perfect farewell to the veteran duo of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who announced their retirement from the short format of the game after winning the T20 World Cup.

Team India created history on June 29 when they defeated South Africa by seven runs. Virat Kohli was given the Player of the Match award for his 76-run innings. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma became the second Indian captain to win a T20 World Cup.
