Team India’s special Air Vistara flight from Delhi to Mumbai, UK1845, dedicated to jersey numbers of India captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli, got a special welcome, receiving a water salute at Mumbai airport on Thursday, July 4. The 2024 T20 World Cup champions reached Delhi from Barbados on Thursday morning and have now reached Mumbai for the title celebrations.
The water-cannon tradition is also used to retire a pilot or air traffic controller, making it a fitting farewell for Rohit and Kohli from T20Is. The duo announced their retirement from the shortest format after the final.

The 2024 T20 World Cup champions' victory parade with the fans will start from Nariman Point and end at the Wankhede Stadium, where the BCCI will host a felicitation ceremony for the players and support staff.
Rohit Sharma and Co. landed in Delhi from Barbados during the early hours of Thursday. They reached ITC Maurya Hotel before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at 11am IST. The PM hosted the team for breakfast before they left for Mumbai, where they received an impressive welcome.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a heartfelt post with the 2024 T20 World Cup champions following their special meeting at his residence. The 73-year-old also interacted with the players and support staff. He shared two pictures on X and captioned the post:
“An excellent meeting with our Champions! Hosted the World Cup winning team at 7, LKM (Lok Kalyan Marg), and had a memorable conversation on their experiences through the tournament.”
A sea of fans took to Marine Drive to celebrate with the players who ended India’s ICC trophy drought after 11 years. This is only the second time players will go for a victory parade after 2007.
With the 2024 T20 World Cup, India have stretched their ICC trophies tally to six, including two T20WC, two ODI World Cups, and two Champions Trophies. They will next play in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
