[Watch] Team India sing 'Vande Mataram' during the 2024 T20 World Cup victory lap at the Wankhede Stadium

Team India players sang aloud the patriotic 'Vande Mataram' by AR Rahman with the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium during their victory lap on Thursday, July 4. On a day filled with celebrations for India's title run at the 2024 T20 World Cup, the side capped it off with an open-top bus parade in the late evening at Mumbai before attending the felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium.

The arena was packed to the rafters with over 30,000 people joining the 'Maa Tujhe Salam celebrations and recital. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, among others, were at the forefront of the passionate singing of the ever-famous Vande Mataram.

Here is a video of the chilling moment on a glorious evening for the Indian cricket team and its fans shared by the BCCI on their social media handles:

Ahead of the joyous scenes at the Wankhede, Indian fans flooded the roods of Mumbai's Marine Drive for the victory parade on Thursday evening. They also braved the rain pouring down only to savor the jubilation with the Indian players.

The Indian squad arrived in Delhi from Barbados only on Thursday morning and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence before flying to Mumbai.

The Indian cricket team enjoyed a similar celebratory parade in Mumbai after their maiden T20 World Cup title in South Africa in 2007.

Team India enjoyed a dominant run at the 2024 T20 World Cup

All the festival-like celebrations on Thursday were made possible by Team India's stellar showing in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA.

Led by the ever-reliable Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue became the first-ever team to be crowned T20 World Cup champions without losing a single game. They swept through the group stages with wins over Ireland, arch-rivals Pakistan, and co-hosts USA.

Yet, their best run came in the Super Eights and the semi-final when they upstaged Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Australia, and England. The grand finale against South Africa tested Team India to the hilt but they came out on top by seven runs to clinch their second T20 World Cup title.

With the win, Rohit Sharma joined Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni as the only Indian captains to win a World Cup title.

Team India also ended their 11-year ICC title and the 13-year World Cup droughts with the 2024 T20 World Cup win.
