India's veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's Indian Premier League (IPL) saw a massive rise at the auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, November 24. Punjab Kings (PBKS) roped in the seasoned campaigner for a whopping ₹18 crore.

Chahal was released by Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the event. The experienced bowler's name sparked an intense bidding war. Teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans (GT), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and PBKS all placed bids for him.

The Punjab-based side went all out for Chahal, shelling out a massive amount to acquire his services. Reacting to it, the 34-year-old pointed out the huge hike in his IPL salary.

Chahal said on Jio Cinema:

"I was very nervous, there was some anxiety. Teen saal mein jo mil raha tha woh ek baar mila (What I was getting for three years I got at once), but I think I deserve that. So, I am very excited."

It is worth mentioning that Yuzvendra Chahal was signed by RR at the IPL 2022 mega auction for ₹6.5 crore. He was expected to be in great demand at the IPL 2025 auction. He is the leading wicket-taker in the league's history, with 205 scalps to his name.

Yuzvendra Chahal shared his excitement after being picked by PBKS at the IPL 2025 auction. He aimed to win the IPL title for the Punjab-based side. In a video shared by PBKS on X, the leg spinner said:

"I am really looking forward to play for Punjab Kings. Let's focus on winning the trophy. Go Punjab!"

Apart from signing Chahal for ₹18 crore, PBKS also paid a huge amount for Shreyas Iyer at the IPL 2025 auction. The right-handed batter was roped in for ₹26.75 crore and is expected to be Punjab's new skipper.
