[Watch] Texas Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis smashes a boundary to reach his century in the MLC 2024
Texas Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis smashed a boundary off speedster Lockie Ferguson to reach his century during the MLC 2024 fixture against Washington Freedom at Church Street Park in Morrisville on Monday, July 8. It was the South African's first-ever century in the Major League Cricket after his disappointing outings with the willow last season.
Washington Freedom skipper Steve Smith won the toss and opted to field first. Put into bat, the Super Kings posted 203-5 in their 20 overs, powered by Du Plessis' splendid 100-run knock off just 58 balls with the aid of 12 fours and five sixes.
His opening partner and wicketkeeper-batter Devon Conway also contributed with 39 runs off 26 balls. With Marcus Stoinis chipping in with a useful knock of 29 runs off 18 balls at the latter stages, the Super Kings set up a challenging 204-run target.

In reply, Washington Freedom openers Travis Head and Steve Smith were off to a flyer, smashing 62 runs in just four overs. However, it soon started pouring down heavily, making it difficult for the game to restart. The game was eventually called off due to incessant rain.
Texas Super Kings are winless in the MLC 2024
The Texas Super Kings were eliminated from the inaugural edition of the MLC last year after suffering a six-wicket defeat against eventual champions MI New York in the Challenger. This year, the Super Kings are yet to register a victory, having lost their opening fixture against Los Angeles Knight Riders by 12 runs.
While Washington Freedom are currently placed atop the six-team standings with three points from two matches, defending champion MI New York are third with two points from as many matches.
The Texas Super Kings will next face the San Francisco Unicorns in Morrisville on Wednesday, July 10 (3 PM local time).
