[Watch] The Hundred Women's youngest-ever player dismisses Aussie legend Meg Lanning on dream debut

London Spirit Women’s opener Meg Lanning fell prey to the youngest-ever player in The Hundred match against the Southern Brave Women at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday, July 24. The youngster is aged just 16 years and 336 making her the youngest in the 100-ball tournament.

The dismissal came off the 14th delivery of London Spirit’s innings. The left-arm spinner bowled a flighted delivery and Lanning ended up playing it straight back to the bowler.

Tilly was over the moon to dismiss the former Australian captain to bag her first wicket in The Hundred. Lanning departed for run-a-ball 12 in her first-ever outing in the tournament.

Sharing the post, The Hundred’s official handle wrote:

“The youngest player to ever play in #TheHundred at 16 years and 336 days. And Tilly Corteen-Coleman's first wicket is Meg Lanning!”

Notably, Tilly Corteen-Coleman has been rewarded with a place in Southern Brave’s team following her exploits in the Charlotte Edwards Cup 2024. She bagged 16 wickets in 11 matches at a brilliant economy of 5.15.


London Spirit beat Sothern Brave by six wickets in The Hundred Women’s clash

A clinical all-round effort helped the London Spirit beat defending champions Southern Brave by six wickets on Wednesday.

Asked to bat first, Southern Brave put up 151/6 in their allotted 100 balls. Danielle Wyatt starred with the bat, scoring 59 runs off 35 balls with the help of one six and 11 boundaries. Maia Bouchier, captain Georgia Adams, and Chloe Tryon chipped in with scores of 35 (21), 21 (14) and 20 (13), respectively.

Erin Burns was the leading wicket-taker for the London Spirits, picking up two wickets in 10 deliveries, while Sophie Munro and Eva Gray bagged one wicket apiece.

In response, the London Sprit chased down the target with three balls to spare. Captain Heather Knight led from the front, scoring 65 off 31 balls, hitting one six and nine boundaries to take her team over the line. Georgia Redmayne also chipped in with 45 off 31, comprising eight boundaries.

Tilly Corteen-Coleman and Charli Knott bagged one wicket each for the Southern Braves.
