Team India's veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has begun training for his much-awaited comeback. The speedster has been out of action since the 2023 ODI World Cup and underwent an Achilles Heel surgery earlier this year.
The cricket star recently used his social media to give fans a glimpse of training and practice on his comeback trail. During a gym session, Shami was playing with his niece.
Sharing a video of him enjoying with his niece, Shami wrote on Instagram:
"Spending time with my niece, these moments are truly priceless"
Mohammed Shami earned widespread praise for his bowling exploits at the 2023 World Cup. He enjoyed an imperious run at the showpiece event, finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the edition with 24 wickets from just seven outings.

Mohammed Shami was recently honored by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for his 2023 World Cup heroics. Speaking at the event, the seasoned campaigner stated that he has been working hard to come back on the field.
He, however, emphasized that he didn't want to rush his return. Shami was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo:
"I am working hard to make a comeback soon because I know I have been out of action for quite some time. However, I want to ensure there is no discomfort when I return. I've to work on my fitness, so that there is no discomfort. "
"The stronger I return, the better it is for me. I don't want to rush and risk getting injured again, be it against Bangladesh, New Zealand or the Australia series." he added.
Shami is likely to return to competitive cricket with the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy 2024. According to PTI, he could feature in Bengal's opening match of the season against Uttar Pradesh on October 11.
