[Watch] “They got no idea but one day they will” - Ben Stokes reacts to James Anderson playing with his kids after farewell Test

England captain Ben Stokes reacted to his kids playing with James Anderson, who retired from the game after the 1st Test against the West Indies at Lord's. The all-rounder reacted to the video via his official handle on X, suggesting that one day his kids will realize Anderson's legacy.

Ahead of day 3 of the Test, Stokes shared a series of pictures on Instagram, recollecting his memories with Anderson, whom he referred to as the 'GOAT'. The Lancashire bowler signed off from the game, with England beating the West Indies by an innings and 114 runs.

Stokes replied to a video shared by ESPNcricinfo's social media handle, where the 41-year-old is seen playing with the England Test captain's kids. He wrote:

"My daughter batting and my son doing the fielding, they got no idea but one day they will @jimmy9."

Coming into his farewell Test, Anderson needed 9 scalps to overhaul Shane Warne's tally of 708, thereby becoming the highest wicket-taker in Tests. However, the swing bowler managed only 4, but his 704 makes him the leading wicket-taker for England by a mile. The right-arm seamer could have had 4 scalps in the 2nd innings, but dropped a catch off his bowling.

Following the massive win at Lord's, the 33-year-old felt youngsters will find it hard to emulate Anderson's longevity and is thrilled to have him as part of the backroom staff moving forward. As quoted by Sky Sports, he claimed:

"Jimmy has been an incredible inspiration to so many people. So many young people have looked up to him and wanted to emulate his career, which I’m sure is going to be very hard to do. The amount of games he's played and the amount of wickets he’s taken, it's just absolutely phenomenal. We’re very lucky that we’re able to keep Jimmy in the dressing room."

England and West Indies will lock horns in the 2nd Test in Nottingham from July 18th.
