[Watch] Thunderous celebrations ring in at Chinnaswamy Stadium after RCB's sensational victory against CSK takes them to IPL 2024 playoffs

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players celebrated jubilantly after registering a 27-run victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday. Their fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium also roared joyously after witnessing one of the best comebacks in IPL history.

Many wrote the Royal Challengers side off after they lost seven of their first eight games this season. However, the Bengaluru franchise scripted a comeback for the ages by winning six games on the trot to storm into the playoffs.

The finale of this journey fittingly happened at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. It came in front of one of the most loyal fanbases across sports and against one of the best franchises in T20 cricket. In a high-pressure game on Saturday, RCB set up a daunting total of 219 for the CSK side. They had to restrict the Super Kings below 202 to overtake their net run rate and advance to the knockout stage.

Their bowling unit stepped up and complemented their counterparts by restricting CSK to 191/7 in 20 overs. The RCB players were over the moon after the final ball as they ran around the ground and celebrated passionately with each other.

"What a night it was unbelievable"- RCB captain Faf du Plessis beating CSK by 27 runs in their final league match of IPL 2024

At the post-match presentation, an elated RCB skipper Faf du Plessis reflected on the win, saying:

"What a night it was unbelievable. It's great to finish this in front of our fans. Myself and Virat was talking about the score after the rain. There were a lot of rain falling on the pitch and I was having a chat with the umpires. The last over that Dayal bowled was unbelievable and he equally deserves the Man of the match. So, I want to share this with him."

He continued:

"I felt like the yorkers wasn't working so I told him to go back to your strengths, which is a slow ball. It's been amazing and I experienced an unbelievable atmosphere. I thank the fans and we are grateful for the RCB fans. We will soak the applause, celebrate and get back to work tomorrow."

Royal Challengers Bengaluru side will face either SRH or RR in the eliminator of IPL 2024 on Wednesday (May 22) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
