[Watch] Travis Head dedicates 100 celebration to his new-born baby in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test

Star Australian batter Travis Head registered the first hundred of the home summer for the hosts, as he got there with a single off Ravichandran Ashwin on Day 2 of the second Test against Team India at the Adelaide Oval. The southpaw dedicated the century to his newborn son as he made a gesture after getting to the landmark.

The incident occurred in the 72nd over of the innings as the hometown boy nudged one to short mid-wicket off Ashwin and made it comfortably through to the other end for a single. With the 31-year-old missing the limited-overs leg against Pakistan due to paternity leave, he dedicated his ton to his newborn son.

With the left-hander scoring his third ton at the Adelaide Oval, he went past Ian Chappell for most tons at the venue.


Travis Head's century propels Australia into the lead on day two at the Adelaide Oval

The South Australian's hundred has swelled Australia's lead well past 100 on Day 2 at the Adelaide Oval. The home side began the day on 86/1 but Jasprit Bumrah ensured to strike twice in the opening hour, getting the better of Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith. Marnus Labuschagne battled hard for his 64 before falling to Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Ravichandran Ashwin struck a few overs after the dinner break even as Mitchell Marsh didn't review despite not nicking the ball behind the stumps to Rishabh Pant.

On Day 1, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. However, Australia's bowling unit, led by Mitchell Starc, shone as the left-arm speedster took six wickets to bundle the tourists out for 180.

The home side also ended the day at the top after McSweeney and Labuschagne helped Australia to 86/1, as they trailed by 94 runs at stumps on Day 1 in Adelaide.
