[Watch] “Tu idhar tha na” - Annoyed Rohit Sharma rebukes fielder for not following instructions during BGT 2024-25 2nd Test
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was visibly annoyed with his fielders not properly following his instructions during the recent Adelaide Test between India and Australia. Official broadcasters Star Sports uploaded a video of the same on their social media handles.
Rohit Sharma joined Team India on November 24 after missing the Perth Test as he was on a paternal leave. He resumed captaincy duties from the second Test, after Bumrah led the visitors in the first game. However, Team India had a poor outing in the day-night Test. Rohit and his men slumped to a 10-wicket loss as the hosts levelled the five-match series 1-1.
During the Test, Rohit was setting the field for Australian batter Travis Head while standing in the slips. In a video posted by Star Sports India, Rohit can be seen in dialogue with teammate Shubman Gill. The conversation was captured by the stump mic with Rohit asking:
"Kya peeche peeche bhaagta hai tu? (Why are you running backwards?)"
Gill replied:
"Bhaiyya udhar tha mai. (Brother I was standing there.)"
Rohit followed it up by asking:
"Tu idhar tha na? (You were there, right?)"
Gill replied that bowler Harshit Rana was stationed in that position. The Indian skipper would once again ask why Gill was backtracking, with the latter replying that he was passing on a message. Rohit responded to it by saying:
"Jaayega, jaayega. (He'll go there.)"
