[Watch] “Udhar he marenge aada” - Rohit Sharma’s message to Kuldeep Yadav caught on stump mic during IND vs SL 1st ODI

Rohit Sharma’s message to Kuldeep Yadav that the Sri Lanka batters would look to play across the line was recorded on the stump mic during the ongoing first ODI between India and Sri Lanka. The match is being played at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Rohit, known for his stump mic comments, gave Kuldeep instructions just before the fourth ball of the 20th over, noting that the batter (Charith Asalanka) would likely play across the line.

“Udhar marte he nahi ye log, idhar nahi marenge, udhar he marenge aada, dhyan mai rkhna. (These people don't hit there, they won't hit there, they will hit across the line, keep this in mind),” Rohit said.

Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka never looked comfortable during his stay at the crease and was caught at slip on the fifth ball of the 24th over.

Kuldeep bowled a leg-break at length just outside off; the left-handed batter hung back to steer it to the third man but ended up guiding it into the hands of Rohit Sharma. Asalanka scored 14 off 21 balls, and his wickets left the hosts at 91/4 after 23.5 overs.

Sri Lankan middle orders fight back after an early setback

After electing to bat first, Sri Lanka didn't start well as they lost Avishka Fernando (1) in the third over. Indian bowlers were on fire as Sri Lanka struggled to put up a decent partnership as they lost half of their side within 27 overs for 101.

Pathum Nissanka played a decent 56 off 75 balls before Washington Sundar got rid of the Sri Lankan opener. The hosts have shown some fightback as Janith Liyanage (20) stitched an important 41-run partnership off 47 balls with Dunith Wellalage.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka was 173/6 after 42 overs, with Dunith Wellalage (29) and Wanindu Hasaranga (24) at the crease for the hosts.
