[Watch] Unclucky Quinton de Kock trudges back to the pavilion after a drag-on for a duck during CSK vs LSG IPL 2024 match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opener Quinton de Kock will be gutted by the way he was dismissed against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It happened during their IPL 2024 encounter in Chepauk on Tuesday, April 23.

A gentle outswinger from Deepak Chahar provided De Kock with the width. The southpaw's eyes lit up as he tried to punch it through the covers and collect an easy boundary to get off the mark.

However, Quinton de Kock could only get an inside edge which went on to hit his off-stump. The southpaw was distraught and had to make his way back to the pavilion. Here's the video:

After posting a mammoth 210/4 in their 20 overs, it was just the start that CSK would have hoped for with the ball.

LSG's hopes of beating CSK lie on Marcus Stoinis

Things went from bad to worse for Lucknow when they lost their skipper KL Rahul for just 16, looking to clear the inner ring but getting caught at covers. The visitors needed someone to get some momentum into their innings and Marcus Stoinis took the advantage of being promoted to No.3.

The Australian all-rounder took the attack to the hosts and has already raced past his half-century. Devdutt Padikkal had a real struggle at the crease, but his dismissal has brought Nicholas Pooran out in the middle.

At the time of writing, LSG needed 87 runs from the last six overs. Five of those may be bowled by Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman, which will be a massive challenge.

While the required run rate is pretty high, dew may play a role in making things difficult for the CSK bowlers. LSG will know that the partnership between Stoinis and Pooran is critical for their hopes. The visitors need to dig deep to give themselves a chance.
