[Watch] Video claims Virat Kohli's bat costs a whopping ₹1.64 lakh at the Greg Chappell cricket centre in Australia

A video featuring a journalist named Norman Kochannek claims that the MRF bat used by star Indian batter Virat Kohli costs a whopping ₹1.64 lakh (approximately) at the Greg Chappell cricket centre in Australia.

Kohli is in Australia for the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will begin in Perth on Friday, November 22. In the build-up to the mega event, Kohli mania has gripped the kangaroo nation. Several big newspapers in the country gave prominence to his arrival in Australia for the Test series.

In a video shared on journalist Kochannek's Instagram handle, he is seen visiting the Greg Chappell cricket centre in Australia and briefly reviewing the bat used by Kohli, which is on sale at the centre. Holding the bat in his hand, Kochannek says:

"We are going to specifically look at Virat Kohli's bat. The bat that Virat Kohli uses is on display here. It's available to be purchased and that is of course an MRF bat. This bat has a short handle, around 2.9 ounces, probably a bit heavier his would be and it retails here for about ₹1.64 lakh (2,985 AUD)."

There is added excitement over Kohli's presence in Australia since the 36-year-old might, in all probability, be featuring in his last Test series Down Under. The right-handed batter has a terrific record in the country. In 13 Tests, he has scored 1,352 runs at an average of 54.08, with six hundreds and four fifties.

"He's going to have his moments, hopefully not too many of them" - Travis Head on Virat Kohli

Australian opener Travis Head has said that the hosts expect Kohli to have his moments during the five-match Test series against India. He said they endeavor to start well against him and then try to keep him quiet as much as possible. Speaking to reporters ahead of the opening Test in Perth, he said (as quoted by India Today):

"There's not a series that you would play India and you not talk about Virat Kohli. No doubt that we'll go through all the players and we've started this morning and just prepare the same way as we always do. We want to start well against him come the first morning, but he's going to have his moments in the series and hopefully not too many of them."
"He's a world class player and over 5 Tests at some stage he's probably going to play well, we understand that, we respect that, and, yeah, we just try our best to, to nullify that," Head added.

Kohli has been struggling for runs lately. In 2024, he has scored only 250 runs in 12 Test innings at an average of 22.72 and has crossed the fifty mark just once.
