Hardik Pandya shares a close bond with the Ambani family. He made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with the Mumbai Indians (MI), a team owned by Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani, in 2015. He moved to the Gujarat Titans (GT) for the 2022 and 2023 editions.

Ahead of IPL 2024, Hardik was traded from Gujarat to Mumbai in an all-cash deal. The 30-year-old was appointed as captain of the five-time champions, replacing Rohit Sharma.

Hardik Pandya will return to Vadodara on Monday after India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph

Hardik Pandya's form was under the scanner following a string of underwhelming performances in IPL 2024. To make matters worse for him, MI finished with the wooden spoon, winning just four out of their 14 fixtures in this year's cash-rich league.

He also received a hostile reaction at most venues, including MI's home ground Wankhede Stadium, with fans expressing their displeasure over him replacing Rohit Sharma as Mumbai's captain.

However, Hardik successfully managed to stage a turnaround, playing a pivotal role in India's 2024 T20 World Cup victory.

He announced on social media that he will return to Vadodara for the first time since the Men in Blue's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. Hardik was born in Surat, but the Pandya family shifted to Vadodara when he was five.

Hardik scored 144 runs across six innings at an average of 48 and claimed 11 wickets from eight outings at the recently concluded ICC event. He picked up three wickets in the final against South Africa, where he also successfully defended 16 runs off the 20th over, guiding India to a thrilling seven-run win.
