[Watch] Virat Kohli bows to Ravichandran Ashwin after his match-winning 5-wicket haul in 1st Test vs Bangladesh 2024
Team India stalwart Virat Kohli bowed to his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin in respect after his brilliant five-wicket haul in the final innings of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. The ace off-spinner also rescued India with a magnificent century in the first innings, helping them recover from a precarious situation at 144/6.
After his batting heroics, Ashwin went wicketless in Bangladesh's first innings, with seamers and Ravindra Jadeja doing the job for the side. However, the veteran spinner made up for it in the second innings, picking up six wickets to dismantle the Bangladesh batting line-up. As a result, India bundled out the visiting side to 234 in the first session of day 4 to win the match by 280 runs.
Virat Kohli showed respect to Ashwin after yet another wonderful bowling performance on the field by bowing to him.

"Every time I play in front of this crowd, it's an amazing feeling" - Ravichandran Ashwin on playing in Chennai
Ashwin deservingly received the Player of the Match award for his brilliant all-wound show at the presentation ceremony after the conclusion of the first Test.
Reflecting on his performance and the experience of playing at his home venue, the 38-year-old said:
"Every time I play in front of this crowd, it's an amazing feeling. I have watched a lot of Tests from those stands. I enjoy the game for what I am doing and not for what I get out of it. None of them gave me any birthday presents so I gave one to myself!"
He continued:
"It was an opportunity to fight. I have seen a lot of guys do that. Have to thank Jadeja, he took me through the difficult phases. It didn't sink in till Day 2. Happy to take wickets too. I make a living by bowling so it comes first. Batting comes naturally but I have struggled with my thoughts getting ahead of myself."
The veteran spinner will return to action on September 27, when India and Bangladesh square off in the second Test at Green Park in Kanpur.
