Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud claimed a crucial wicket by dismissing former Indian captain Virat Kohli on Day 1 of the ongoing Test on Thursday, September 19. The game is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The dismissal took place on the second ball of the 10th over. Hasan bowled a full delivery outside off stump. The veteran batter attempted a big drive away from his body with hard hands but only managed to edge it, and was safely caught by keeper Litton Das.

Here’s a video of the dismissal:

Virat Kohli scored six runs. The 35-year-old’s wicket left India reeling at 34 for 3 after 9.2 overs. Meanwhile, Hasan Mahmud has been on fire for the visitors, taking all three wickets.

Bangladesh's decision to bowl first paying early dividends

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Indian captain Rohit Sharma survived a close LBW call in the fourth over but was dismissed on the first ball of the sixth.

Shubman Gill, batting at No. 3, was caught out down the leg side. The 25-year-old had a disappointing outing, getting dismissed for a duck off eight balls. Virat Kohli also struggled to make an impact and became Mahmud's third wicket.
