[Watch] Virat Kohli exchanges his sunglasses with Rishabh Pant during IND vs BAN 2024 1st Test

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant enjoy a great camaraderie on and off the field. This was put on display during the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In a video doing the rounds on X, Kohli was seen exchanging his sunglasses after a chat with Pant while fielding against Bangladesh. Pant seemingly asked Kohli about the sunglasses and the latter gave it away to the wicketkeeper-batter, who then took off his sunglasses and handed it over to Kohli. The incident came as Kohli was fielding at first slip next to Pant.

Notably, Rishabh Pant made his return to Test after 20 months following his return to competitive cricket earlier this year. The 26-year-old had sustained multiple injuries after his car accident in December 2022.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is making his comeback after skipping the five-match Test series against England earlier this year.

The two players were part of the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad.

Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli came up with contrasting performances on their return to Test cricket

Pant smashed 109 runs off 128 balls, including four sixes and 13 boundaries against Bangladesh in the second innings. This was his sixth ton in Test cricket. During his ton, he also shared a 167-run partnership with centurion Shubman Gill for the fourth wicket as the hosts set a mammoth 515-run target for Bangladesh.

On the contrary, Kohli failed to deliver with the bat in both the innings, departing for scores of 6 and 17. The 35-year-old fell prey to a wrong judgment in the second innings as the on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough adjudged him LBW out.

The right-handed batter was absolutely plumb but had a faint inside edge before the ball hit the pads. He enquired with his batting partner Gill regarding the decision but wasn’t aware of the bat touching the ball. As a result, Kohli decided against taking the review.
