Team India stalwart Virat Kohli extended a warm gesture towards his fans at the Optus Stadium by giving autographs during Day 2 of the first Test against Australia. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test series commenced on Friday (November 22), with 17 wickets falling on the opening day. Virat Kohli did not have a great time with the bat in seamer-friendly conditions, as he departed cheaply for five (12) to a steeply rising delivery.
An X user (@KohliSensation) shared a video to give a glimpse of Kohli's activities off the field on Day 2 of the Perth Test. In it, the iconic batter could be seen giving autographs patiently to fans in the stadium.

India extended their lead to 218 runs after stumps on Day 2 of 1st Test vs Australia in BGT 2024-25
India batted first in the Test after winning the toss on Day one and got all-out for 150 in overcast conditions. Jasprit Bumrah (5/30), Mohammed Siraj (2/20), and Harshit Rana (3/48) then rose to the occasion and bundled the hosts for 104 in their first innings to help their side secure a lead of 46 runs. Mitchell Starc top-scored for Australia with a sedate knock of 26 (112) after coming in at number nine.
Team India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (90*) and KL Rahul (62*) then displayed phenomenal grit and determination with the bat, playing two complete sessions without getting out to extend their lead to 218 runs. The Australian pacers tried their best but could not break the resolute 172-run partnership of Rahul and Jaiswal.
Speaking to the media after stumps on Day 2, Australia's head coach Andrew McDonald reviewed his team's performance, saying (as quoted by The Age):
"I think the wicket’s changed considerably. The seam and swing was down compared to yesterday. I thought KL and Jaiswal played extremely well. The morale is always good. It’s a pretty level team. We’ve got some problems to solve. There’s no doubt we’re clearly well behind the game at this stage. They are in the driver’s seat."
