[Watch] Virat Kohli heads back to London after T20 World Cup 2024 victory celebrations in Mumbai
Team India's star batter Virat Kohli was seen leaving for London after the massive celebrations in Mumbai on Thursday following their T20 World Cup 2024 win. The 35-year-old left for London immediately after the celebrations to be with his family as he was spotted at the airport.
Kohli played a significant role in Team India's T20 World Cup win, helping the Men in Blue end their 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. He misfired in all the games until the final against South Africa in Barbados when he top-scored with 76 off 59 deliveries, helping his side reach 176 in 20 overs. It eventually culminated in a seven-run win for India.
It has been an eventful 24 hours for Rohit Sharma and Co. as their stay in Barbados was extended by due to a hurricane on the island. They landed in Delhi on Thursday morning and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi before arriving in Mumbai.

Kohli recalled the final moments of the final against South Africa, claiming how they felt it was slipping out of their hands again. The veteran credited Bumrah for bringing India back into the game, saying, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.
"Like everyone in the stadium [here], we also felt at one point if it is going to slip away again, but what happened in those [last] five overs was truly, truly special. You know what I'd like everyone to do is applaud a guy who brought us back into games again and again and again in this tournament. What he did in those last five overs, bowling two out of the last five overs, it was phenomenal. A huge round of applause for Jasprit Bumrah, please."
Following the tournament, Kohli and Rohit announced their retirement from T20Is. They are the top-two run getters in the format, with Kohli amassing 4188 runs and Rohit scoring 4231 runs.
