Virat Kohli is set to make a return to red-ball cricket after a gap of nine months. His most recent appearance in the format came against South Africa earlier this year in January.

The veteran batter was unavailable for selection due to personal reasons for India's five-match home Test series against England. Kohli has 26,942 runs from 591 innings to his name in international cricket and is just 58 runs away from the 27,000-run mark across formats.

Indian batting legend is the fastest batter to score 27,000 runs in international cricket, achieving the feat in 623 innings. Kohli has a great chance of breaking Tendulkar's record.
