Sri Lanka won the toss in the third and final ODI against India and decided to bat first. They had a good opening partnership, as Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando put together 89 runs for the first wicket. Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis also chipped in with a vital 59-run knock.

Barring the top three batters, there were no sizeable contributions. Towards the end, Kamindu Mendis played a handy knock of 23 to ensure that Sri Lanka finished on 248/7 after their stipulated 50 overs.

The Indian bowlers had a field day at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Making his ODI debut in Indian colors, Riyan Parag was the star with the ball as he managed to pick up three wickets, one of them being Avishka Fernando. Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel picked up a wicket each, with the spinners keeping things under control.

Virat Kohli is due for a good knock here. The 36-year-old failed to score big in the first two matches. He will be looking forward to batting and scoring big for the Men in Blue in ODIs for the final time this year. Sri Lanka are leading the three-match series 1-0.
