[Watch] Virat Kohli looks dapper as he arrives in Colombo for IND vs SL ODI series

Virat Kohli has arrived in Colombo for the upcoming ODI series between India and Sri Lanka, scheduled to be played on August 2, 4 and 7. This will be Kohli’s first international appearance after India lifted the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies.

The 35-year-old retired from T20Is alongside Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. Thus, they didn’t play in the ongoing three-match T20I series in the island nation.

In a video doing the rounds on X, Kohli can be seen arriving at the airport in Sri Lanka. The star player looked dapper in a white T-shirt, black pants with matching sneakers. He seemingly took a car to the team hotel.

As per reports, Virat Kohli arrived in Colombo a day after Rohit, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and KL Rahul. Meanwhile, several ODI-bound players are already in Sri Lanka for the three-match T20I series.

Kohli will be playing his first ODI this year. The right-hander last featured in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he amassed 765 runs in 11 innings at an average of 95.63 with the help of three centuries and six fifties.

Overall, Kohli has 13,848 runs in 292 matches (1280 innings) with the aid of 50 centuries and 72 fifties. The Delhi batter is now only behind Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (14,234) and Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) in the 50-over format.


Virat Kohli on the verge of breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record in IND vs SL ODI series

Virat Kohli, who already owns several milestones, is on the verge of breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for fastest 14,000 runs in ODIs during the Sri Lanka series. Tendulkar achieved the milestone in 350 innings, while Sangakkara reached the landmark in 378 innings.

Notably, Kohli loves playing against Sri Lanka against whom he has 2594 runs in 53 ODIs (51 innings) at an average of 63.27 with the help of 10 centuries and 12 fifties. In Sri Lanka, he has 1028 runs in 20 matches (18 innings), including five tons and two half-centuries. He scored 330 runs in five innings, hitting two centuries during India's tour of Sri Lanka in 2017-18.
