[Watch] Virat Kohli looks startled after once again getting caught behind for just 7 in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test

Team India ace batter Virat Kohli departed after scoring just 7 in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. Mitchell Starc dismissed him in the closing moments of the opening session on Day 1 of the pink-ball Test.

Kohli came into the crease after KL Rahul was dismissed in the 19th over of the innings. He recorded a boundary off Scott Boland in the next over but with an unconvincing shot. The right-handed batter played a more reassuring cover drive to end the over to add three more runs to his tally.

Starc, after delivering the breakthroughs for Australia by removing both openers, struck once again to dismiss Kohli off the first ball in the 21st over. The left-arm pacer honed it on a good length outside the off stump. Kohli was caught in two minds as he went onto his backfoot to play the delivery on top of the bounce, but decided to execute a leave at the last minute.

He was late in getting his bat out of the way as the ball traveled to the slip cordon after making contact with the edge. Steve Smith, stationed at second slip, took a comfortable catch to end Kohli's brief stay at the crease. The ace batter looked at the pitch and shrugged his shoulders before returning to the pavilion.

Kohli was caught in the slip cordon in the series opener in Perth, with Josh Hazlewood's extra bounce being the key on that occasion.

Team India placed at 82-4 on Lunch after Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill's dismissals

Scott Boland also got into the act to trap Shubman Gill LBW to leave India four down after the first session of the second Test. As of writing, the Men in Blue are placed at 82-4 after 23 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is joined by skipper Rohit Sharma, who plays in the middle order in Tests for the first time since 2018.
