[Watch] Virat Kohli misses his 50 by just 3 runs as Shakib Al Hasan rattles his stumps in IND vs BAN 2024 2nd Test

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli fell short of his half-century by just three runs in the ongoing Test against Bangladesh at Green Park on Monday, September 30. Kohli attempted a sweep off left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan's bowling in the 30th over but the ball missed his bat and rattled his stumps.

India played with an aggressive approach in the first innings of the Test against Bangladesh to make a result possible after two days were washed out in Kanpur. Virat Kohli followed the same approach and raced to 47 runs off 34 deliveries in the first innings.

While Kohli tried to score a boundary and complete his half-century in style at Green Park, the delivery from Shakib Al Hasan stayed low and hit the stumps. Kohli went down on one knee but still ended up missing the ball.

Kohli formed a brilliant partnership of 87 runs for the fifth wicket with KL Rahul. The duo showed great intent as they helped India cross Bangladesh's first innings total of 233 runs.

Virat Kohli survived a run-out chance early in his innings at Green Park

While Virat ended up scoring 47 runs in the first innings at Green Park, he could have lost his wicket for just two runs in the 19th over. Virat was batting with Rishabh Pant at that time and he attempted to steal a single off Khaled Ahmed's bowling when the ball was near the pitch.

The bowler raced towards the ball and tried for a throw just centimeters away from the stumps. Virat was miles away from the crease and had given up. Much to everyone's surprise, Khaled's throw did not hit the stumps as Virat got a lucky chance.

After the confusion, Rishabh Pant gave Virat a hug and apologized for the miscommunication.
