[Watch] Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma dance together in joy at Wankhede Stadium during 2024 T20 World Cup celebrations

Team India stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma danced together joyfully at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai during the 2024 T20 World Cup celebrations on Thursday, July 4. The Men in Blue beat South Africa in the summit clash of the World Cup on June 29 to become two-time champions in the shortest format.

MS Dhoni-led Indian side won the trophy for the first time in 2007, the inaugural T20 World Cup held in South Africa. Rohit Sharma won that time as a player and has emerged victorious as a captain this year.

BCCI organized a victory celebration and parade for Team India in Mumbai this evening. The players participated in a parade in an open bus along with thousands of fans on the roads and then reached Wankhede Stadium, where the BCCI felicitated them. At the stadium, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma expressed their joy to the audience in attendance by dancing their hearts out. After the duo initiated, a couple of their teammates joined in and shook their legs.

"We have just worked for only one thing - that's Indian cricket"- Virat Kohli on his and Rohit Sharma's mindset over the years leading to 2024 T20 World Cup triumph

In a video shared by Star Sports on social media platforms, Virat Kohli recently opened up about the long journey with Rohit Sharma. He spoke about their common goal for India to be successful on the field. About the special moment and the photo the duo shared after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, Kohli said:

"It was a very special thing for him [Rohit] as well. His family is here, Samaira [Rohit's daughter] was on his shoulder. But I just felt like in the victory lap he was behind the whole time. I told him, you also hold the trophy for a while, for two minutes. We should take a picture together because this journey has been very long."

He continued:

"Me and him playing together for so many years and just trying out level best to make sure that this happens for India. Captain leader, leader captain, we have just worked for only one thing - that's Indian cricket. That picture was a dedication to Indian cricket."

Both Virat and Rohit announced their retirement from T20Is after winning the World Cup.
