Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma expressed their frustration after Mohammad Rizwan took his time to take strike when he came onto bat during the 2023 World match between India and Pakistan on Saturday (October 14) in Ahmedabad.
Rohit Sharma took the issue to the on-field umpire while Virat Kohli took a different route to convey his displeasure. He gestured to an imaginary watch on his wrist and at Mohammad Rizwan.
The incident transpired during the 13th over after Hardik Pandya dismissed Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq. Mohammad Rizwan walked in at the number four position and took some time to mark his guard and take strike. The Indian fielders and bowler Hardik Pandya were ready and waiting for him for a while at that juncture.

"Everyone has their own way of dealing with it" - Rohit Sharma on ways of dealing with pressure from outside
At a pre-match press conference ahead of the match against Pakistan, Rohit Sharma revealed that he has been away from social media platforms to cut down the outside noise and pressures. He said:
“I am not on social media for the past nine months now. Everyone has their own way of dealing with it. Some people like it, some don’t. That’s not my place to tell anyone, how to do it. They have to work out their own way of dealing with these things."
Sharma added:
“It’s a massive game but for us what is important is playing an opposition tomorrow, which will be quality. We’ve got to play good cricket, which we have done in the last two games."
