[Watch] Virat Kohli's six off Mitchell Starc hits steward on the head by the boundary rope during 1st BGT 2024-25 TestÂ
Team India ace batter Virat Kohli revved things up in the second innings of the opening Border-Gavaskar series Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth. After a disappointing dismissal on Day 1, he looked in supreme touch, capped off by a stunning six off Mitchell Starc, which unfortunately resulted in a minor casualty.
Kohli executed a flashy cut shot over third man against the left-arm seamer's short-pitched ball while coming around the wicket. The ball landed just beyond the ropes, but went on to hit a steward on the head right after bouncing.
The steward was facing the crowd at the Optus Stadium, and was unaware of the approaching ball. He looked in discomfort after being hit, with the bounce taking out some of the ball's travelling pace after contact with Kohli's bat.
Kohli had a worrisome look on his face after watching his shot claim an unintended target. A couple of Australian players stationed in that region of the field, which included Nathan Lyon, went over to check on the steward while the Australian team also sent their medical staff to attend to the injury.

The Men in Blue wobbled for a while in the second session on Day 3 after losing the trio of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel in quick succession.
Control has been restored towards the end of the session with a partnership forming between Washington Sundar and Virat Kohli. The pair have put on 34 runs off 63 deliveries so far as the score reads 355-5 after 107 overs, with the lead soaring to 401 runs.
Kohli is unbeaten on 38 runs off 64 deliveries. His six off Starc was certainly amongst the highlights of his innings, along with a sublime straight drive against Cummins earlier in the session.
