[Watch] Virat Kohli seen having fun with umpire Richard Kettleborough day after wrong LBW decision in IND vs BAN 2024 1st Test

Virat Kohli is one of the most fun-loving cricketers in the world. It was evident today (Saturday, September 21) as he was seen having fun with the on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough during the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In a video doing the rounds on X, Kohli can be seen interacting with Kettleborough before bursting into a smile.

Watch the video below:

The interaction took place a day after Kettleborough adjudged him LBW out. Notably, the right-hander was plumb but misread his inside edge before denying the DRS review after a quick chat with his batting partner Shubman Gill.

The replays showed a faint inside edge before the ball hit the pads and the decision would’ve been reversed had Kohli challenged it by sending it to the third umpire.

Virat Kohli flops with the bat in 1st Test vs Bangladesh

Virat Kohli flopped with the bat in the first Test against Bangladesh. The right-handed batter returned with scores of six and 17 in his two innings. This came after Kohli returned to the format after skipping the five-match Test series against England earlier this year. The 35-year-old also skipped the Duleep Trophy ahead of the Test season.

Kohli will now look to make amends in the second Test against Bangladesh, which will be played in Kanpur from September 27. The Delhi-born batter is on the verge of completing 27,000 runs in international cricket.

Virat Kohli remains critical to India’s success against Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Australia as Team India aim to make it to the third consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Apart from Kohli, India captain Rohit Sharma also flopped in the opening Test, returning with scores of six and five in his two innings. The 37-year-old had also skipped the Duleep Trophy earlier this month.

Despite Kohli and Rohit’s failures, India have set a 515-run target against Bangladesh, courtesy of centuries from Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

At stumps on Day 3, the visitors were 158/4 in their second innings.
