[Watch] Virat Kohli smashes water boxes with bat after getting dismissed for 17 on Day 3 of 2nd IND vs NZ 2024 Test 

Team India's veteran batter Virat Kohli failed to score big in the second innings of the recently concluded Pune Test against New Zealand. There were a lot of expectations from the seasoned campaigner as the Men in Blue were required to chase down a mammoth 359-run target in the final innings.

However, Kohli managed to score just 17 runs before losing his wicket to left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner on Day 3 (Saturday, October 26). He was hit on the back pad by an arm ball and the on-field umpire adjudged it LBW.

While the former India captain opted for a review, the decision was upheld due to the umpire's call as the ball tracking showed that the ball would have gone on to clip the leg stump. Furious with his dismissal, Kohli smashed a couple of water boxes with his bat while walking back to the pavilion.

India were bundled out for 245 on Day 3, suffering a 113-run defeat. With their back-to-back wins in Bengaluru and Pune, New Zealand gained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, clinching their maiden Test series victory on Indian soil.

India's dominant run at home came to an end as they faced their first home Test series defeat since 2012-13. With a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final still in their grasp, Rohit Sharma and Co. will aim to come up with an improved performance in the remaining final fixture.


Virat Kohli has scored just 88 runs across four innings in IND vs NZ 2024 Test series

Virat Kohli's batting form as concerned many fans as he has failed to deliver so far in the ongoing three-match Test series against New Zealand. He kicked off the rubber with a nine-ball duck in the first innings of the opening encounter in Bengaluru.

The 35-year-old redeemed himself with a crucial 70-run knock in the subsequent essay. However, it was followed by twin failures in the Pune Test, where he registered scores of 1 and 17.

The ace batter has scored 88 runs across four innings at an average of 22 in the series. Virat Kohli will now be seen in action in the upcoming third Test, beginning Friday, November 1, in Mumbai.
