[Watch] Virat Kohli spotted in the nets ahead of 3rd BGT 2024-25 Test but not with the bat in hand
Virat Kohli did not have the best of outings in Adelaide during the second Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. Following a massive loss in the pink-ball Test, the Indian team decided to stay back and train in Adelaide, with an objective to improve their 'red-ball' game.
Meanwhile, the hosts have already reached Brisbane, which is the venue for the third BGT 2024-25 Test. Virat Kohli was seen rolling his arms over in the nets. It was surprising that the former Indian skipper was spotted with the ball and not the bat in hand.
Kohli was seen sending down a few balls in the training session on Tuesday (December 10), with pacers Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and all-rounder Nitish Reddy reportedly present as well. Kohli has bowled in only 11 Test innings in his international career and does not have a single wicket in the format. However, he has five ODI and four T20I wickets to his name.
It remains unclear as to whom Virat Kohli was bowling to in the nets. With Kohli struggling to score in the Adelaide Test, it also remains unclear as to why he was spotted rolling his arm over in the nets. It is possible that it may just have been a light warm-up drill.
Virat Kohli under pressure to perform in Brisbane after Adelaide failure
It seemed as though Virat Kohli was back at his best after he scored an unbeaten century in the first Test in Perth. On the back of that ton, expectations were high as India went into the second Test in Adelaide.
However, Kohli struggled against the pink ball, failing to make a significant score in both innings of the second BGT Test. He was dismissed for just seven runs by Mitchell Starc in the first innings and was sent packing by Scott Boland for 11 runs in the second innings.
With the series now at par (1-1), the Brisbane Test becomes all the more important for either side, particularly for India, who are fighting for a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
With the third BGT Test to start on Saturday (December 14), there is not much time left and Virat will be under pressure to pull his socks up, rectify his errors, and find a way to score big runs.
