[Watch] Virat Kohli walks out and goes back as KL Rahul survives off a no ball in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test
On the opening day (December 6) of the second Test in Adelaide which has been tough for India so far, a light moment occurred involving Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Rahul opened the innings for India along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. While Jaiswal was dismissed early, Shubman Gill joined Rahul at the crease.
Rahul was almost sent back on the first delivery of the eighth over by Scott Boland. Boland bowled a back-of-a-length delivery that nibbled away outside off as Rahul edged it to the wicket-keeper. Rahul was on 0 at the time and it looked as though he would have to walk back without opening his account.
While the Australians were celebrating the dismissal, Virat Kohli, who was slotted to bat next, in all readiness, padded up and walked out from the pavilion. He was about to enter the field when the fourth umpire walked up to him and asked him to wait.
As it turned out, Boland had overstepped and it was eventually called a no-ball. Rahul survived and Kohli was seen walking back to the dugout.
Rahul was given another reprieve when he was dropped in the same over. However, his fortune did not last long as he was dismissed before the Tea break for 37.
