[Watch] Washington Sundar heaves a sigh of relief after trapping Tom Latham LBW for 86 on Day 2 of IND vs NZ 2024 2nd Test
Team India bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar heaved a sigh of relief after dismissing New Zealand skipper Tom Latham in the third session on Day 2 (October 25) of the second Test between India and New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
After bundling out India for 156, Devon Conway and Latham walked out to the middle to open the batting. The duo put together 36 runs for the first wicket before Conway was dismissed for 17. Latham continued to bat and brought up his half-century, which happened to be the 30th in his Test career.
On the fourth ball of the 45th over, Washington Sundar, who had picked up three until then in the innings, trapped the Kiwi skipper in front of the wickets. A vociferous appeal compelled the umpire to raise the finger. Latham took it upstairs and found out that the impact was the umpire's call. Had that been in his favor, it would have extended his stay in the middle.
Take a look at the dismissal below:
Tom Latham played a fine hand in the middle, with his knock finishing on 86 runs off 113 balls. His wicket brought Glenn Phillips to the middle.
