[Watch] "Yeh saare haste kyun hai jab ball yaha lagta hai?" - Wasim Akram's hilarious query to Ravi Shastri after Rishabh Pant is hit on the groin
Commentators Wasim Akram and Ravi Shastri engaged in a hilarious conversation after Rishabh Pant was hit in the groin area during Day 1 of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test in Perth on Friday, November 22. Akram asked Shastri why everyone starts laughing when the batter is struck in the area which causes him a lot of pain. The latter replied by sharing his personal experience.
There was plenty of drama on Day 1 of the first India vs Australia Test in Perth as seventeen wickets fell. India were all out for 150 in 49.4 overs after winning the toss and deciding to bat first as Josh Hazlewood claimed 4-29. In response, Australia crumbled to 67-7 in 27 overs by stumps, with Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah registering figures of 4-17 from 10 overs.
There was some interesting banter in the commentary box as well. After Pant was struck on the groin area during India's first innings, replays showed his teammates Virat Kohli and Harshit Rana laughing. Reacting to the situation, Akram asked his fellow commentator and good friend Shastri:
"Yeh saare haste kyun hai jab ball yaha lagta hai? (Who do all these people laugh when the bat hits [the batter] there?)"
"Bahut haste hai (They laugh a lot)," the former India coach agreed.
Shastri then went on to narrate an anecdote of being hit in the groin area by Courtney Walsh after which all the West Indian players broke into laughter.
"I remember in West Indies, I got hit my Courtney Walsh in that area. All the West Indians gathered there and were laughing. They are laughing and here one cannot breathe. We also want to laugh, but there is no chance. Quality of abdomen guards was very poor," the former India all-rounder cheekily added.

Both Shastri and Akram, lovingly referred to as Shaz and Waz, are known for their wacky sense of humor with the mic in hand. Fans would be hoping for the duo to deliver many more such funny moments during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
