[Watch] Wasim Jaffer shares cryptic meme for Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Team India's opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to be a pivotal cog in the visitors' batting lineup for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia. Ahead of the opening fixture, former cricketer Wasim Jaffer shared a piece of advice for the youngster, albeit cryptically.
Taking to his Instagram handle on Thursday, November 21, Jaffer shared a small clip of the song 'Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai' from the Sanjay Dutt starrer Khal Nayak. He stressed the 'Ku ku ku ku ku ku ku ku' part, leading to many fans believing that he was asking Jaiswal to take a cue from ex-England captain Alastair Cook.
Jaffer captioned the post:
"My msg to @yashasvijaiswal28 for BGT 😉 #IYKYK #AUSvIND."
It is worth mentioning that Alastair Cook performed admirably in Australian conditions, scoring 1664 runs across 36 Test innings at an average of 48.94. While Yashasvi Jaiswal is on his first tour of Australia with the senior team, he will have a significant role to play, especially with captain and opener Rohit Sharma unavailable for the first Test.
"You have to be disciplined in your daily routines" - Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up Virat Kohli's advice
Yashasvi Jaiswal recently spoke about the advice he received from Team India's ace batter Virat Kohli in the early days of his international career. He recalled that the former India captain highlighted the importance of discipline.
Sharing the advice, Jaiswal said during a chat with bcci.tv:
"When I started playing senior cricket, I spoke to Virat paaji about how he manages himself. He has said that if you want to play all that cricket then you have to be disciplined in your daily routines and process so I have seen him do things day by day.
"It motivates me a lot to put in all the work and do something and make a difference in my habits, which is important. It makes me better day by day. I have always believed in consistency in my work."
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy kicks off in Perth on Friday, November 22. It will be the first time since 1991-92 that India will play a five-match Test series in Australia.
