"Qiana Joseph was fantastic - West Indies captain Hayley Matthews
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews expressed satisfaction with her team's performance, with a special mention to her opening partner, Qiana Joseph. Reflecting on the win, Hayley said:
"Pretty good feeling. Incredibly proud of the group. We did our jobs with the ball and then to put up a performance like that with the bat! Qiana Joseph was fantastic, scoring her first-ever 50, what a time to do it, man. When we were batting it slid on a bit more. We backed ourselves to chase down whatever target was put on the board."
She added:
"We will probably take a day-off tomorrow and then we are back on. We haven't won the World Cup yet. Every game from now on, we need to be switched on. It feels like we are peaking at that right time, so hopefully we can be even better in the semifinals."
West Indies will face New Zealand in the second semi-final of the 2024 World Cup on Friday (October 18) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
