[Watch] When Kamran Ghulam was slapped by Haris Rauf for dropping a catch in PSL 2022
Pakistan batter Kamran Ghulam is on an all-time high after scoring a brilliant century on his Test debut in the second Test against England on Tuesday, October 15. However, Ghulam was once slapped by speedster Haris Rauf in the 2022 Pakistan Super League (PSL) for dropping a catch.
The duo played for the Lahore Qalandars (LQ) against the Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) in one of the round-robin matches. PZ won the toss and batted first when Afghanistan batter Hazratullah Zazai got a leading edge off Rauf only for Ghulam to drop a sitter at point.
Yet, Rauf bounced back from the disappointment to pick up the other opener Mohammad Haris three balls later. When Ghulam ran in to celebrate the wicket, Rauf slapped him for dropping the earlier catch before giving him a wry smile as it all appeared to be in good spirits with Ghulam smiling throughout.
Here is a video of the moment:
Rauf finished with mediocre figures of 1/36 as PZ finished on 158/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Ghulam scored a quickfire 18-ball 25 but LQ could not get over the line and the contest ended in a tie.
In the Super Over, PZ chased a below-par target of six in only two balls to complete a thrilling victory.
Kamran Ghulam saved Pakistan from trouble with his century on Test debut
Kamran Ghulam finally received his long-waited opportunity to bat for Pakistan and he took it with both hands on Day 1 of the second England Test at Multan. The 29-year-old replaced ace batter Babar Azam at No. 4 and came out to bat when Pakistan was under immense pressure at 19/2 in the 10th over.
However, Ghulam used all his domestic experience to overcome a challenging track and weather the storm to score a brilliant 118 off 224 deliveries. He became the 13th Pakistan batter to score a century on Test debut, helping the side to finish Day 1 on a respectable 259/5.
Pakistan have further capitalized on his century by motoring to 345/8 in their first innings on the opening session on Day 2. They lost the opening Test of the three-match affair by an innings and 47 runs. It was their sixth consecutive Test defeat.
