[Watch] When MS Dhoni delivered popular dialogue from Rajnikanth's blockbuster movie

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni recently displayed his adoration for Tamil movie superstar Rajnikanth by repeating a popular dialogue from his blockbuster film Padayappa. A fan asked Dhoni in the promotional event about the actor he had in mind while preparing for a role.

The 43-year-old had no hesitation in saying:

"In front of the green screen, I couldn't think too much. But now when I think about it, Rajni sir, you know, everything flying."

Following this, the host requested Dhoni to deliver a Rajnikanth dialogue, to which the legendary cricketer chose the famous 'My Way is Highway' from Padayappa.

Here is a social media video clipping of the same:

Dhoni's delivery drew massive applause from the crowd as he apologized for possible pronunciation errors.

Meanwhile, Rajnikanth turns 74 today (December 12) and continues to dominate the South Indian film industry. His recent release 'Vettaiyan', also starring Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, was critically acclaimed but failed to do huge business at the box office.

As for Dhoni, the former captain will be back in action for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025 after being retained by the franchise as an Uncapped Player for ₹4 crore.

"We were just trying to copy a great pose by a great man" - MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni's love for Rajnikanth has several other examples with the former CSK captain replicating Rajnikanth's pose from one of his movies - Kabali.

During a CSK event last year, Dhoni was asked by a fan about the same, to which he responded:

"There's no comparison. We were just trying to copy a great pose by a great man. Nothing beyond that. Very difficult to think like him or do stuff like him. But at least we can copy the pose."

Dhoni remains India's most successful captain in terms of wins, leading the side to 2007 T20 and 2011 ODI World Cup wins.

He is also the IPL's most victorious captain with 133 wins, including leading CSK to a joint-record five titles.
