[Watch] When Suryakumar Yadav hilariously recreated the iconic 'ek chutki sindoor' scene during his KKR days

Team India batter Suryakumar Yadav was on Thursday, July 18, appointed the captain for the T20I series in Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue will play three T20Is in the island nation, apart from three ODIs, during their upcoming white-ball tour from July 27 to August 7.

The tour of Sri Lanka will also be the first assignment for Gautam Gambhir as head coach, taking over from Rahul Dravid, whose stint ended after the Men in Blue's triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Interestingly, it will be a reunion of sorts for Gambhir and Suryakumar. They were once teammates at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

A small clip of Suryakumar and Gambhir appearing together on a special show for KKR back in 2016 is available on Star Sports' YouTube channel. In the 50-second video, which is a promo for the show 'Knight Club', Suryakumar can be seen recreating the iconic 'ek chutki sindoor' scene from the Bollywood blockbuster 'Om Shanti Om', which starred KKR co-owner, Shah Rukh Khan.

"Ek chutki sindoor ki keemat tum kya jaano Manish babu," the cricketer is heard saying in the video that is being played on the screen.

After the clip ends, the camera pans to Suryakumar, who looks rather embarrassed with his act and hides his face. Gambhir also cannot control his smile on watching Suryakumar's acting antics. Incidentally, it was Gambhir who gave Suryakumar his legendary nickname SKY.

It was when he moved to Mumbai Indians (MI) that he found his groove as a T20 batter. The swashbuckler is the third-leading run-getter for Mumbai Indians. In 98 matches, he has smashed 3033 runs at an average of 35.26 and a strike rate of 148.09, with two hundreds and 23 half-centuries.
