[Watch] Will Young takes a one-handed stunner to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja in 3rd IND vs NZ 2024 Test

Will Young took a stunning catch to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja on Day 3 (Sunday, November 3) of the third or final Test between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. As a result, Jadeja walked back for just six runs off 22 balls, leaving the hosts reeling at 71/6 in a 147-run chase.

Jadeja, however, shared a crucial 32-run partnership with Rishabh Pant to rescue the Men in Blue from 29/5 but failed to take the team over the line.

The dismissal came in the 16th over of India’s second innings. Ajaz Patel bowled a flatter delivery spinning into the left-hander and Ravindra Jadeja went back while trying to play a flick shot. He got an inside edge that hit him on the thigh pad before going towards silly mid-on.

Will Young dived towards his right to complete a one-handed catch. It was a brilliant reflex catch since Young was moving towards his left before changing his direction at the last moment.

Ravindra Jadeja and his deteriorating numbers with bat in Tests ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Ravindra Jadeja picked up 10 wickets — fifers in both innings — in the third Test but has failed to live up to expectations with the bat lately. The southpaw returned with scores of 0, 5, 38, 42, 14, and 6 (today) in the three-match Test series against New Zealand.

Jadeja will next be in action in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The 35-year-old has scored 175 runs and picked up 14 wickets in four Tests Down Under.

As far as the ongoing third Test is concerned, the hosts were 102/6 at the time of writing, with Pant and Washington Sundar at the crease. They need 45 runs to win. Ajaz Patel has been the pick of the Kiwi bowlers, returning with four wickets so far.

The Tom Latham-led New Zealand have already taken a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match Test series. Rohit Sharma and company are looking for a consolation win in the third Test to boost their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) chances.
