Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show with his batting exploits in the side's ongoing Test series opener against Australia in Perth. The southpaw redeemed himself after bagging a duck in the first innings by notching up a gutsy century in the second.

Jaiswal countered the Australian bowlers with a great aplomb on Day 2 (Saturday, November 23), proving he has great defensive skills in his otherwise counterattacking repertoire. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 90 at stumps on the second day.

It didn't take long for the youngster to cross the 100-run mark on Day 3. Jaiswal reached his fourth Test century with a six off Josh Hazlewood's bowling in the 62nd over of the innings.

Playing in his first Test series Down Under, Yashasvi Jaiswal has stamped his authority in the opening fixture itself. This was also the left-handed batter's maiden Test ton in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries.

The Bumrah-led side eked out a crucial 46-run first-innings lead. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul the put on a great show, frustrating the Australian bowlers with a glorious partnership.

Rahul and Jaiswal stitched together a phenomenal 201-run opening partnership in the second innings, becoming the first Indian pair to form a double-century opening stand on Australian soil in Test cricket.

The partnership finally ended after Rahul was dismissed by Mitchell Starc in the first session on Day 3. At the time of writing, India are 214/1 after 66 overs, with Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal at the crease. They have claimed a lead of 260.
