[Watch] Yashasvi Jaiswal gets dismissed by Nahid Rana for 56 in the first IND vs BAN 2024 Test

Team India and Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 56 on Day 1, September 19, of the first Test against Bangladesh. The match is being played at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The dismissal occurred on the fourth ball of the 42nd over. Jaiswal looked to drive a ball off Nahid Rana and got a thick outside edge. Shadman Islam at second slip had the ball come at him at a good pace and held onto it nicely, helping Rana pick up his first wicket of the match and the one the visitors wanted the most.

Yashasvi Jaiswal departed after a fine knock of 56 runs off 118 balls. His dismissal left India reeling at 144/5 after 42 overs.


Team India sink further into trouble on Day 1 of the first IND vs BAN 2024 Test

Team India lost the toss and were asked to bat first under overcast conditions in Chennai by Bangladesh. The visitors had a terrific first hour of play as they managed to pick up three wickets, with Rohit Sharma (6 off 19), Shubman Gill (0 off 8) and Virat Kohli (6 off 6) being dismissed cheaply.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant (39 off 52) stitched together a handy 62-run partnership for Team India. The pair were going well in the middle before Pant hit one behind to the keeper. KL Rahul (16 off 52) then joined Yashasvi Jaiswal and the pair added 48 runs before Rahul was scalped by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers as he accounted for four wickets, three of them coming in the first hour of play in the first session. Nahid Rana returned with the big wicket of Rishabh Pant while Mehidy Hasan Miraz got the wicket of KL Rahul.

At the time of writing, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are batting in the middle, with the score reading 169/6 after 47 overs.
