[Watch] Yashasvi Jaiswal's mis-hit goes for a stunning 100-metre six against Nathan Lyon in 1st BGT 2024-25 Test
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a 100-meter-long six against Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon despite the bat rotating in his hand on Saturday during the first Test of the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy in Perth.
Jaiswal was batting at 80 (180) in the 52nd over of the third innings when he unfurled the shot. The ball was flighted on the leg stump at 86kph and Jaiswal danced down the track, attempting to thump it straight down the ground.
It went more towards long-on but cleared the deep fielder and the boundary rope easily.

This was Jaiswal's second six of the innings and massive proof of his confidence, ability, and steely resolve. It was close to the end of the day's play and he was visibly tired after batting for the better part of the last two sessions.
Before the start of the over, the team physio tended to him for many minutes, apparently giving treatment and hydration due to cramps on the forearm. Still, on either side of the six, he barely put a foot wrong, ending the day at 90 (193).
On the other end, KL Rahul put up 62 (153) and together, the duo helped India close the second day's play at 172/0 with a huge lead of 218 runs. Both openers batted brilliantly, holding back their dynamic shots against the new ball and slowly picking the right moments to get the occasional needle-pushing boundary.
Yashavi Jaiswal breaks Brendon McCullum's record with 100m six
That six broke a 10-year-old record in Test cricket. It was the left-hander's 34th six in Tests in 2024, the most by any batter now in a calender year. The previous best was Brendon McCullum with 33 sixes in 2014. The next in line are Ben Stokes (26 in 2022) and Virender Sehwag and Adam Gilchrist (22 in 2008 & 2005 respectively).
