[Watch] "You shut up" - Fazalhaq Farooqi bursts out laughing because of Rashid Khan in AFG vs PNG T20 World Cup post-match interview
Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and star spinner Rashid Khan shared a light moment after the team's win over Papua New Guinea in the T20 World Cup 2024. The win sealed Afghanistan's spot in the Super 8 phase as they have won their first three games.
Speaking to the host broadcaster after the game, Farooqi shed light on his plans, and just as he was elaborating, Rashid hid behind the camera and began to make the pacer laugh.
Here's what Fazalhaq Farooqi said:
"I have two plans. If there is any movement or swing, I just try to get early wicket for the team. If there is nothing for me (gestures to Rashid) You shut up (laughs). That's (for) Rashid (smiles). He is trying to make me laugh but I am not laughing."
Here's the video:
Farooqi won the Player of the Match award for registering brilliant figures of 3/16. He is confident that Afghanistan will keep the same intensity in their final group game against the co-hosts West Indies.
Fazalhaq Farooqi's fires Afghanistan to Super 8
Afghanistan didn't have a straightforward group as the West Indies and New Zealand were the two seeded teams who were the favorites to go through to the next round. However, the Afghans have shown with their might that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Fazalhaq Farooqi has been simply incredible and is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament quite comfortably so far. In three matches, he has picked up 12 wickets at an economy rate of just 3.70. He was instrumental in bundling Papua New Guinea out for just 95 before the Afghan batters chased it down in the 16th over with seven wickets to spare.
Afghanistan now have a chance to top the group if they beat the West Indies on Tuesday, June 18.
