[Watch] “You should use Google and see” - Jasprit Bumrah’s hilarious response to reporter during BGT 2024-25 3rd Test
Team India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah had a witty reply when asked about flailing batting returns from the team amid their struggles against Australia in the third Test against Australia. With the right-arm speedster taking it as his batting ability coming under question, he hilariously asked the reporter to Google who has the most number of runs in a single over in a Test.
Bumrah holds the record for hitting the most runs in an over in a Test as he plundered 35 runs off England's Stuart Broad two years ago at Edgbaston, Birmingham. In 42 Tests, he has a best of 34*.
While the 31-year-old has given his all with the ball, the batters have ceased to impress, losing four wickets for 51 on the board, albeit under tricky conditions and trail by 394 runs heading into day four.
The reporter had asked Bumrah the following:
"Hi, Jasprit. What is your assessment of the batting, although you are not the best person to answer the question, what do you think about the situation of the team, considering the conditions in Gabba?"
The No.1 ranked Test bowler responded:
"It's an interesting question. But, you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a Test over. But, jokes apart. That's another story."
The Ahmedabad-born bowler now has 18 scalps in five innings in the series alongside two fifers. At the Gabba, he dismissed Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Mitchell Starc.
"He bowled well before in this game he had a niggle and kept on bowling" - Jasprit Bumrah on Mohammed Siraj
Bumrah also went on to praise Mohammed Siraj for putting in the hard yards despite the injury and pointed to luck not going his way behind not getting the expected number of wickets. He stated, as quoted by The Indian Express:
"We have conversations. He bowled well before in this game he had a niggle and kept on bowling. Fighter attitude that and rest of the team love it. Some days you bowl well and wickets come and sometimes it doesn’t. I have told him that before. He is in a very good space and great attitude."
At stumps on day three, the tourists trailed by 394 runs after Australia amassed 445 runs.
