"We’ve got a team which can produce performances on the field" - Yashasvi Jaiswal confident of RR lifting the IPL 2022 title
Rajasthan Royals' (RR) dynamic opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal believes it will be important for the team to get off to a positive start in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).
In an official release shared by the franchise, Jaiswal highlighted that the Royals have the firepower to clinch the coveted championship trophy for the second time. He opined that RR have got all their bases covered going into this year's cash-rich league and said:
“I’m really looking forward to this season with great confidence and hope. We have managed to create a team that has everything in it to win the trophy. With a good balance of batters and bowlers, we’ve got a team that can produce performances on the field. But the most important thing for us right now is to start well and create momentum for ourselves."
Jaiswal went on to state that he constantly works on bettering his game when he is not playing matches by toiling hard in the nets and gym. He added:
"Even when I’m not playing any matches, I’m still trying to utilize my time to work on how I can get better during games. I’ve spent a lot of time in the nets and in the gym to improve on various aspects whether it’s fitness or batting technique. Hopefully, this coming season, my performances can reflect that on the field for the Royals.”
“I try to pick up the good bits from everyone I’m playing with or under. And also try to instill discipline in my game and in my personal life as well. I’ve also learned a lot from all the great players and coaches of the teams that I play for. And I have to credit the Royals for this because I’ve always kept learning and growing at the franchise even during the off-season,”
Jaiswal was one of three players retained by the franchise prior to the IPL 2022 mega-auction. The southpaw impressed many with his gutsy performances in the previous edition of the tournament. He amassed 249 runs from 10 games at an impressive strike rate of 148.21.
"I was really disappointed" - Yashasvi Jaiswal on not finding a place in Mumbai's playing XI in Ranji Trophy
The talented youngster expressed disappointment over missing out on a spot in the Mumbai team's playing XI in their recent Ranji Trophy fixtures. However, Jaiswal hopes to carve a niche for himself with his batting exploits in IPL 2022. He said:
“Of course, I was really disappointed (on not finding a place in Mumbai's playing XI). But I’m looking forward to using the IPL to showcase what I can provide. I know that if I do well, I will make my place in the (Mumbai) team.”
The Rajasthan Royals will kick off their IPL 2022 campaign on March 29 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MCA Stadium in Pune. They are placed in Group A alongside Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders.
