“We both will open the batting together” - Yuzvendra Chahal shares heartfelt message for Jos Buttler
Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal took to social media on Friday, November 8, to share a heartfelt message for his Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammate Jos Buttler. The England white-ball skipper joined RR in 2018, while Chahal became part of the franchise in 2022, and the two developed a strong camaraderie during their time together.
However, the franchise decided to release both players ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. It remains to be seen whether they will reunite at the same franchise or if the explosive batter and the leg-spinner will face off as opponents in the upcoming season.
On Friday, Chahal shared a video on X, featuring various moments of him and Buttler enjoying their time together at the Royals. He captioned the post:
“In 2022, I knew him as Jos Buttler. In 2024, he’s my Jos bhai. Loved every day being around you and only a few people know what you’ve done for me. Thank you for always standing by me. And Hopefully, on some evening at 7:30 PM, we both will open the batting together."
Meanwhile, Rajasthan retained six players: Sanju Samson (₹18 crore), Yashasvi Jaiswal (₹18 crore), Riyan Parag (₹14 crore), Dhruv Jurel (₹14 crore), Shimron Hetmyer (₹11 crore), and Sandeep Sharma (₹4 crore).
In addition to Buttler and Chahal, other notable players released by the franchise include Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult.

He continued his strong performance with 21 wickets in the following season and 18 in the next. Over his 46 matches with the franchise, Chahal took 66 wickets, ranking second in the Royals' all-time wicket tally, just behind Shane Watson (67).
