"Well played, captain Shubman Gill" "We don't want this type of future" - Fans give split opinions as Gill scores 66 off 49 in IND vs ZIM 3rd T20I

India captain Shubman Gill led from the front in the ongoing third T20I against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday, July 10. The right-hander scored 66 runs off 49 balls at a strike rate of 134.69 with the help of three sixes and seven boundaries. He also put on 67-run and 72-run partnerships with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad for the first and third wickets, respectively.

With the knock, Gill returned to form after managing 2 (4) and 31 (29) in the first two games. This was his third 50+ knock in 16 T20Is, which include an unbeaten 126 and 77 last year.

The majority of fans on X didn't look impressed with Gill's knock in the third T20I against Zimbabwe. One user wrote:

Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad star as India set a 183-run target for Zimbabwe

A clinical batting display from Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad helped India post 182/4 against Zimbabwe in the third T20I. Gaikwad scored a quickfire 49 runs off 28 deliveries, hitting three sixes and four boundaries. Jaiswal also scored 36 off 27, comprising two sixes and four boundaries.

Sanju Samson stayed unbeaten on 12 off seven, while Abhishek Sharma departed for 10 off nine. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza and Blessing Muzarabani bagged two wickets apiece.

Zimbabwe won the opening game by 13 runs before India bounced back in style, winning the second match by a mammoth 100 runs to level the five-match series 1-1. The Men in Blue will now be keen to make it 2-1 as 2024 T20 World Cup-winning players Jaiswal, Samson, and Shivam Dube returned for the T20I series.

The two teams will play the fourth and fifth T20Is on July 13 and 14, respectively.
